Ok, on the non-original side of Circus-13, some of the adaptations I got coming up (I hate to call them fan fiction when they are straight adaptations of the comics we been doing) are listed below. A couple of them are ready to go, but I been holding off for some reason.
Spider-man; Kraven's Last Hunt - (limited series, 6 episodes)
This was one of my favorite Spidey stories. It was the first story to ever cross all three Spider-man titles (The Amazing Spider-man, Web of Spider-man and Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-man). It involved Kraven the Hunter taking Spidey out for a few days and taking his place hunting down criminals, including hunting and catching (defeating) Vermin, which Spidey had trouble doing with Captain America's help. Great story, dark, moody and full of internal monologues. I'm thinking about whipping this out very very soon.
Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters - (limited series, 4 episodes)
Green Arrow had been around for like 50 years before he got his own book. He was always in the Justice League or teamed up with someone (usually Green Lantern). Mike Grell, somewhere around 1990, recreated the character by moving him to Seattle (from the fictitious Star City), making him 43 years old and getting rid of all the gimmick arrows, turning him into something more of a Robin Hood. I adapted this comic to radio about 2 years ago, and at one time took auditions, but never got around to actually doing anything else with it. Expect this one to hit the Auditions page really soon.
ElfQuest - (on-going series)
One of my all-time favorite comic books, I actually have a tattoo of Cutter (the main character) on my right arm. I have written to Wendy and Richard Pini (the creators) and actually asked permission to adapt this for radio. Just waiting to hear back from them.
Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern - (very long limited series)
Like ElfQuest, this is one of my favorite book series (no tattoos though). I was devastated when TNT canceled their Pern TV series a few years ago before it even got started. And, also like ElfQuest, I have written to Todd McCaffrey (since i couldn't find Anne's e-mail and Todd has written at least 2 Pern books with his mother) to ask permission. I am hoping that they say yes. But with the new Pern movie coming out, I'm not sure that I will be able to do this one.
Okay, that's my current list of planned fan adaptations. If you have any suggestions for other possible future projects, post them here. |
